Bururi: a lower court’s judge in prison for forgery and use of forgery
Alembert Nkunzimana, judge of the Mugamba residence court, in Bururi province (southern Burundi), is detained in Bururi prison. Judicial sources report that he was arrested last Friday at the instigation of the general prosecutor’s office at the Bururi Court of Appeal. He is prosecuted for forgery and use of forgery. According to the same judicial sources, this judge has reportedly used a false copy of the judgment when executing a judgment made the Mugamba residence court where he is assigned.
This Monday, September 25, a clerk of the Court of Appeal of Bururi suspected of having helped this judge to access this copy was heard by the public prosecutor’s office at the Court of Appeal of Bururi.
Judicial sources in Bururi revealed that three judges from the Mugamba residence court who participated in the execution of this judgment were also summoned for questioning by the public prosecutor’s office at the Bururi Court of Appeal.
Alembert Nkunzimana becomes the fourth judge to be detained in Bururi prison in less than two months.
Three other judges from the Bururi high court are still detained in this prison.
