INFO SOS Médias Burundi
The person concerned is from Nyabihanga hill. It is in the commune and province of Kayanza. Local police sources confirmed his arrest and detention to SOS Médias Burundi.
He is suspected by his neighbors of cutting down more than 300 banana trees on his mother’s property.
“We were surprised very early in the morning to see all the banana trees cut down. Everyone was wondering who these criminals are,” his neighbors told us.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the field was destroyed by the suspect.
Local sources say Nazaire Miburo did not get along with his widowed mother. A land dispute opposes them, according to neighbors. Kayanza, is one of the most populated provinces in the small East African nation. Every year, several families rotate to cultivate the land that continues to dwindle.
