Burundi-Rwanda: the presidents of the two countries seen together publicly for the first time in seven years

For the first time in seven years, the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi have been seen together in a photo. It is on the sidelines of the COP27 which is taking place in Sharm-el-Sheik in Egypt. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

In the photo, Évariste Ndayishimiye and Paul Kagame are seen in the same photo with Kenyan President William Ruto.

All three presidents were caught on camera laughing. The photo sparked several comments on social media. It was taken after Burundi’s borders reopened with Rwanda last month. Some speak of a very significant step in the renormalization of relations between the two sister nations of the Great Lakes region of Africa.

Meanwhile, the Burundian president organized a consultative meeting of heads of state of the East African community on the Congolese crisis. This is in his capacity as current president of the community.

The meeting was also attended by the Congolese Prime Minister and the Secretary General of the EAC.
