According to our information, the mother of 6 was abducted by Imbonerakure along with police officers who searched her house without finding anything compromising. They were looking for a rebel.
“Around 5:30 a.m., several Imbonerakure along with police officers headed towards my sister’s house. They said they were looking for a rebel that her family was hosting. They searched her house and found nothing compromising. Her husband and her six children were at home,” says Aimé Magera.
He added “the police left saying that everything is in order. But to the great surprise of my sister’s family, the Imbonerakure said that they must leave with her to confront her with the person who alerted them “.
Initially, Claudine Nshimirimana was detained at the hill leader’s home in Gikangaga, in the Ruyaga zone in the commune of Kanyosha. It is in the province of Bujumbura (west of Burundi).
Her relatives say they looked for her in the area’s cells and at the provincial police station located in Kabezi, to no avail. They say they fear for his safety.
Aimé Magera in exile today speaks of “political persecution”.
“It is not for the first time that my sister has been kidnapped or arrested. In 2020, when I denounced electoral fraud, the police arrested and detained her for days before releasing her,” he told SOS Médias Burundi M.Magera.
Until this Tuesday evening, the place of detention of the opponent’s sister had not yet been communicated.
