Bujumbura attacks : Burundi should stop associating Rwanda with its internal problems (government)

Kigali reacted on Sunday to accusations from Burundi which accuses its northern neighbor of being behind the grenade attacks in recent days in the commercial city Bujumbura. According to the Rwandan government, Burundi should stop associating Rwanda with its internal problems.

The Rwandan government expressed itself through a statement which was posted on its website.

“It is clear that Burundi is grappling with significant internal problems for its government to blame Rwanda for the recent grenade explosions in Bujumbura, a situation with which we have no connection nor reason to be involved”, says this document released on Sunday, May 12.

The Rwandan authorities recall that the country of a thousand hills has no dispute with its sister nation, which has become an “enemy neighbor”.

“Although Burundi has expressed a dispute with Rwanda, we have no dispute with Burundi,” the statement said.

Rwanda finally calls on its southern neighbor to resolve its internal problems without associating it with such “despicable incidents”.
