Gitega: A girl brutally killed after being raped

Josiane Niyonkuru, in her twenties, was raped and then brutally killed. The tragedy took place in the Magarama neighborhood in the political capital Gitega. A suspect was arrested by the local police.

According to eyewitnesses of this macabre discovery, Josiane Niyonkuru died from strangulation confirmed Léandre Nzibarega, head of the Magarama neighborhood.

He says the victim’s body was found in a field. “Her murderer had tried to hide the body, in vain”. The tragedy occurred during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.

A young man was arrested as part of an ongoing police investigation. He is being held in the cell of the provincial police station in Gitega.

The local administration claims to have all the evidence that incriminates him. Residents are demanding a flagrante delicto trial for him.
