Gitega : a couple arrested for an alleged murder
A couple suspected of being involved in a murder that occurred in Songa, in the district and province of Gitega, was arrested by the police on Tuesday, February 11. INFO SOS Médias Burundi
Déo Nduwimana, 48 year old, and his wife Christiane Nindabiye were arrested at their home on the morning of February 11. According to Jean Berchmans Ntahondereye, village chief of Songa, they are suspected of the murder of Cédric Iradukunda, a 25-year-old hairdresser whose body was found on February 5 on the RN8, linking Gitega, the political capital, to Rutana (southeast).
Suspicions quickly fell on the couple after traces of blood were discovered on them. According to initial investigations, the victim was brutally killed after being caught red-handed committing adultery with Christiane Nindabiye.
Currently, Déo Nduwimana and his wife are held in the cells of the provincial police station in Gitega, awaiting their appearance in court.
In addition, Achile Ntirampeba, another hairdresser arrested shortly after the incident, was released.
