Rumonge, November 5, 2025 – A gruesome scene shocked the residents of Muzi village, in the Maramvya zone of Rumonge district, where the lifeless bodies of a mother and her child were discovered Tuesday morning.
According to information gathered on site, the victim, Nadine Nininahazwe, and her one-year-and-two-month-old son, Axcel Beni Irangabiye, had been missing since Saturday, November 1, 2025. Worried by their prolonged absence, neighbors alerted local authorities.
The authorities then decided to enter the family’s home, where they made a tragic discovery : the baby’s body, its head submerged in a bucket of water. The mother’s body was found a short time later in a wooded area in the same village, according to several witnesses.
The victim’s husband, currently in Tanzania for work, was not present at the time of the events. At this stage, the motive for the tragedy remains unknown, and no suspect has yet been identified.
Local authorities and the judicial police have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this double murder and to find the perpetrators. The shocked population is calling for the truth to be revealed and for justice for the victims.
