Gitega, 3 December 2025- The lifeless body of Jules Ndayikeza, 28, was found hanging inside his home, under the roof structure, on Higiro hill in Gitega commune and province, central Burundi. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.

Sixte Niyimbona, the hill chief of Higiro, confirmed the discovery and indicated that the cause of death has not yet been established, suggesting it could be a suicide.

However, some local residents dispute this version. They claim that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and later placed at the scene to simulate a suicide. According to these witnesses, Jules Ndayikeza was allegedly murdered in the context of family conflicts, and they are calling for independent investigations to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Chief Niyimbona noted that no suspects have been apprehended so far. The victim was buried the same day.
