Kayanza, March 9, 2026 – The lifeless body of a man was discovered on Monday, March 9, in a ditch alongside the National Road n°1, in the neighborhood commonly known as “Khalfan,” in the city of Kayanza, Butanyerera province, in the north of the small east African nation. According to initial reports, the victim was killed with a bladed weapon.

The body was found in the morning in a drainage ditch located along the National Road n°1. According to information gathered from his relatives, the victim suffered from mental health issues. He reportedly left his home on the afternoon of Sunday, March 8, telling his family that he was going to Gatwaro Stadium to attend the football match between Kayanza United and Vital’o FC. Since that moment, his family had received no news until the grim discovery of his body.

A suspicious death

Initial findings suggest foul play. Significant bloodstains were observed on the victim’s head, suggesting he may have been stabbed.

For their part, the victim’s family is calling on the authorities to expedite the investigation so that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice.
