The prisoner’s partner as well as a police officer who was on duty on November 13, the day they were caught by the public prosecutor in Rutana (southeast of the country) also received this sentence.
Another person who had been summoned this Friday is the head of inmates nicknamed “general”. He was acquitted by the court.
The policeman who was on duty was taken to Rutana prison. He had been released very recently whereas since last November 14 he had been staying in this remand center, on the orders of the Rutana prosecutor.
It should be noted that the couple tjat were sentenced had been caught by the public prosecutor in Rutana on November 13th.
The trial which took place this Friday reportedly surprised the prosecutor at the Makamba Court of Appeal (south) because the suspects had been released by the public prosecutor in Rutana on the basis of bribes, according to sources among prison staff at Rutana prison.
