Nyanza-Lac: the former communal administrator and the communal secretary of the CNDD-FDD released

Jean Claude Nduwimana and Thadée Ndayishimiye, former administrator of Nyanza-Lac and secretary of the CNDD-FDD in the commune of Nyanza-Lac (province of Makamba, southern Burundi) were released on Wednesday. It was the public prosecutor’s office at the Makamba Court of Appeal that released them after several days in detention over an ongoing leadership crisis in the commune. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

It was in the afternoon that the two men were released on the orders of the general prosecutor’s office at the Makamba Court of Appeal, according to our sources.

“The prosecutor’s office analyzed their file. They missed a single reason that could explain their arrest and detention before quickly deciding that they should be released,” say sources close to the case.

Jean Claude Nduwimana was arrested on December 5 and Thadée Ndayishimiye on December 16. Both were excluded from the governing party after their arrest. Was also excluded the communal representative of the Imbonerakure (members of the CNDD-FDD youth league, the ruling party).

For months, the commune of Nyanza-Lac has been experiencing a leadership crisis, which has led to the dismissal of the administrator and her office.

The sacked team was accused of mismanagement of municipal funds, among other things.

The two recently released men are among the members of the municipal council who want the departure of the bureau which refuses to withdraw.
