Rumonge: the district administrator joins his colleague from Buyengero in prison
Jérémie Bizimana, administrator of the district of Rumonge in the province of Rumonge (Southwest Burundi) is detained in Murembwe prison since Friday. He joins his colleague from the district of Buyengero and the adviser to the governor in charge of finance and administration. Jérémie Bizimana was heard by the Attorney General at the Bururi Court of Appeal (southern Burundi) this Friday.
At the end of the interrogation, the prosecutor decided to transfer him to the central prison of Murembwe located in the zone of Gatete, district and province of Rumonge in the southwest of the country.
Mr. Bizimana becomes the second administrator in Rumonge province to be sent to prison in two days.
Gratien Nduwayo, administrator of Buyengero was transferred this Wednesday at 5 p.m. to the same prison along with his father-in-law and the advisor to the governor in charge of finance and administration.
They are prosecuted for “diversion of iron sheets and bags of cement” provided by the presidency of the Republic of Burundi, intended for the construction of schools.
According to our sources, several other administration authorities were to be heard in the same case.
