Mutaho: the alleged murder of the Régie Nationale des Postes’ manager received a life sentenced
In a swift trial in the criminal chamber of the high court of Gitega (political capital) this Saturday, Chadrack Irakoze (30 years) was sentenced to life imprisonment for the premeditated murder of the manager of the Régie Nationale des Postes in the commune of Mutaho, Emmanuel Ndayisenga, 50 years old. The driver-mechanic, a native of Bihororo hill in the commune of Giheta (Gitega) pleaded guilty without clarifying the motives for the murder.
“He didn’t even steal the money. Obviously it was a contract killer who had been tasked with eliminating the victim,” said a person who attended the trial.
Chadrack Irakoze said he purchased the weapon in the Democratic Republic of Congo for civilian self-defense.
The prosecution has requested a life sentence for the murder who asked a reduction of the judgement.
After deliberation, the judges ruled on a life sentence.
