Beni: several Christians killed in a bomb explosion
Another bloody attack occurred this Sunday in the territory of Beni, in the city of Kasindi, bordering Uganda, in the province of North Kivu, eastern DRC. Several people (all Christians) whose number is not yet determined were killed. INFO SOS Médias Burundi
The attack targeted a parish of the 8th Community of Pentecostal Churches of Central Africa (CEPAC).
Traces of blood are visible at the entrance of the church and inside, as shown by the images taken by witnesses. Shards of glass and pieces of wood are strewn inside everywhere. The images are shocking – they show the bodies of victims including bruised children.
“A bomb exploded at 11:55 a.m. We were in the middle of a baptism ceremony,” said a witness.
Sources on site speak of several dead and injured people.
“Several people were killed in the explosion: women, children and men. People here are terrified,” residents say.
Several injured were transferred to local health facilities on motorbikes or transported by their friends, ambulances not being in large numbers in this part of the Congo. For the moment, the toll of the explosion is not yet known.
But the security services speak of a “situation already under control”. They add that the wounded are taken care of in different health structures of the place.
Sources not yet confirmed by our editorial staff put the death toll at at least 14.
On June 27, 2021, a Sunday, two other homemade bombs blast in a Catholic church parish and in front of a bar, killing and injuring people. The United States accused the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) considered by the world’s leading power as “a terrorist group” of being behind the two explosions.
The region is particularly terrorized by the ADF, an armed group of Ugandan origin which never claims responsibility for its attacks, beheadings and massacres.
