Mabayi: a woman killed
The body of Daphrose Nizigiyimana was discovered on Sunday morning on the Mihigo sub-hill. It is on the hill of Buhoro in the commune of Mabayi in the province of Cibitoke (north-west of Burundi). First-time passers-by discovered the body first.
“She was completely naked. No doubt she was raped first”, say witnesses with regret.
The victim was seen yesterday around 8 p.m. in the locality of Buhoro. She had just received a recovery for the banana beer she sold on a daily basis.
“[…], no doubt, criminals were waiting for her halfway. We suspect Imbonerakure who patrol during the night of having murdered our neighbor. We found at the crime scene a sock that belongs to an Imbonerakure of the place”, charge angry residents.
Had it not been for the intervention of the police, the young suspect would be killed by residents.
The communal administrator of Mabayi confirms the facts and promises an investigation.
The suspect is being held by the police in Mabayi.
The victim, 41, was a mother of four children.
