Mugina: two people dead and three others injured following torrential rains
Two people died, three others seriously injured and several houses and fields washed away by heavy rain mixed with hail and violent winds on the hills of Kagurutsi and Nyamihana in Mugina commune, Cibitoke province (north-west of Burundi), this Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses indicate that human and material damage was recorded on the hills of Kagurutsi and Nyamihana following the torrential rains.
According to information collected from the grassroot administration, the rain washed away a house, two people died and three seriously injured following landslides.
The same information mentions several fields of cassava and banana plantations damaged by these rains mixed with violent winds and hail.
The victims are in total desolation and spend the night under the stars. They are asking for emergency help.
The municipal administrator confirms this information and reassures. It suggests designing a list of needs to submit to the Ministry of Solidarity in order to request assistance for disaster victims.
Julienne Ndayihaya calls on the population to show solidarity and help those who have been affected by this difficult situation.
