Rumonge : a body floating on Lake Tanganyika discovered

The body of Emmanuel Nduwimana (46 years old) was found very close to the commercial port of Rumonge on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. His corpse was floating on the waters of Lake Tanganyika, at the bottom of the Kanyenkoko neighborhood. It is in the town center of the province of Rumonge (southwest Burundi).

According to witnesses, the body showed no injuries and was not yet decomposed.

Emmanuel Nduwimana worked as an attendant in a local hotel. One of his relatives told SOS Médias Burundi that the deceased had been ill for two days.

“He was under medical treatment at home,” he said. His colleagues say he was last seen Monday night.

“He went out around 8 p.m. and we didn’t see him again,” they assure.

Emmanuel Nduwimana was from the district of Songa in the province of Bururi in southern Burundi. The police in Rumonge confirm that they have launched an investigation.
