It was her neighbors who alerted the local police.
“She gave birth to a baby that she quickly threw into a latrine. When she saw that the child was not dead, she threw stones at it to finish it off,” say neighbors who alerted the grassroots administration and the police.
This information is confirmed by the administrative and police authorities of Kayogoro. They specify she was transferred to the dungeon of the provincial police station of Makamba.
The woman had become pregnant while her husband had been staying in neighboring Tanzania for a year.
The administrative and police authorities call on couples to abstain, even in the event of a prolonged absence of one of the spouses because this practice has become commonplace in Makamba province.
Two other babies were killed by their mothers in the same circumstances in the communes of Kibago and Mabanda during the last three months.
