Jean Bosco Ciza was arrested by Imbonerakure (members of the youth league of the CNDD-FDD, the presidential party). He is from the Taba town in the commune and province of Bururi. Arrested in the afternoon, he was directly sent to the police cell in the provincial capital.

Police sources say that the young boy is being prosecuted for “desecration of graves”.

“He often went to destroy the graves, take the metal sheets used in the construction of the graves. He resold these sheets by the kg to masons”, indicate our sources. The young Ciza was caught red-handed, according to the local police.

Three other people were able to elude the vigilance of the Imbonerakure. They were in the same cemetery where Jean Bosco Ciza was arrested. They are wanted by the police.

If convicted he faces up to 10 years in prison according to the Burundian law.
