The first body was discovered at the bottom of the Gitongo hill, in the commune of Mutaho. The woman’s body has not been identified, according to residents.

Côme Nizigiyimana, the hill chief indicates that this body had injuries to the face. “It was recovered by civil protection police officers”.

The remains, which were beginning to decompose, were buried on the orders of the local administration.

The second body that was discovered in Gitega province on December 7 is that of Joseph Ndohoye, 66 years. This father of 5 children had disappeared on November 30, according to the communal administrator. Joseph Sinzobashirwako says that the circumstances of the death of this sixty-year-old have not yet been established.

Local sources suspect murder. They think that he was killed before his body was thrown into this river.
