Giheta : a child killed

The body of Josué Irakoze was discovered on Sunday. It is on the village of Ruhanza in the district of Giheta (province of Gitega, central Burundi). Circumstances of his death remain unidentified. The police have launched an investigation.

The body of the victim (12 years old) was discovered between two walls of a house under construction, according to local sources.

“We discovered his body on a construction site. From the looks of it, he was killed, his throat cut,” say witnesses to the macabre discovery.

According to his family, the child had been missing since Saturday when he had gone looking for firewood.

According to Jean Manirakiza, Ruhanza village chief who confirmed the information, the police went to the scene to open an investigation.

The child was buried the same day. Josué Irakoze brings to eight the number of people found dead in Gitega province since last November.
