A body of a man who has not been identified, was found Sunday morning in the Rohero zone. It is in the urban district of Mukaza in the center of the commercial city of Bujumbura. Witnesses of the macabre discovery say that the deceased was approximately 40 years old. He was discovered not far from the place commonly known as “public garden”.

“His body did not show any injuries. No identity papers were found on him”, indicate witnesses who believe that “this man was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at this place”.

The body was transferred by the police to the Kamenge military hospital located in the north of the commercial capital.

The second body that was discovered in Bujumbura on Sunday is that of a woman. It was found in the Mutakura neighborhood, in the Cibitoke zone in the north of Bujumbura.

“She was lying very close to the road, completely naked. She was apparently raped before being killed,” according to witnesses. A local activist based in the neighboring zone of Kamenge confirmed to SOS Médias Burundi “the presence of armed bandits armed with bladed weapons who attack residents at night.” He believes that this woman was murdered by these armed bandits.

In both cases, representatives of the local administration and the police went to the site of the macabre discovery. They promised an investigation.
