In Ngagara, a new body dumped in a bag raises concern

SOS Médias Burundi

Bujumbura, September 11, 2025 – One month after a first gruesome discovery, a new body was found on Wednesday in Ngagara, confirming fears of growing insecurity in this northern Bujumbura neighborhood.

The lifeless body of a man, whose identity has not yet been established, was discovered around noon in a gutter along Buconyori Avenue, in Section 6, Ntahangwa district.

The motive for the crime remains unknown. Witnesses believe the body was transported from another location before being abandoned there. The victim, completely naked and wrapped in a bag, showed no visible signs of injury, further intriguing residents.

Alerted, local authorities removed the body, which was transferred to a Bujumbura hospital morgue.

This is not a first in the neighborhood. Last August, another body was found under similar circumstances. The two victims remain unidentified, and residents are concerned about growing insecurity.

“Criminals kill elsewhere and come and dump the bodies here,” laments one resident.

An investigation is expected to clarify this new case and identify the perpetrators of this gruesome act.
