The body of Égide Ntaconzoba, 35 years old, was found this Sunday, April 23, 2023 in the valley separating the villages of Rukoba and Mahonda in the district and province of Gitega (central Burundi). According to residents of Mahonda village, the body had no injuries and was tied up. Égide Ntaconzoba was killed elsewhere and his body thrown there, according to witnesses of the macabre discovery.

This information is confirmed by Modeste Ngendakumana, chief of Mahonda village.

“Motives for the murder are not yet known but the police have launched an investigation”, he said.
