Cibitoke: a teenage peanut seller killed in Mugina

The body of a young man selling peanuts was discovered this Monday, May 20 on the Mubere sub-hill of the Rugajo hill and zone in Mugina commune. It is in the Cibitoke province in the northwest of Burundi. The perpetrators of the assassination have not yet been identified, much less the motives for his murder. Sources in Mugina indicate that the victim was robbed of his money before being murdered.

“The young man was returning to his aunt’s house. The criminals took his money and then cowardly murdered him,” they reported. They specify that his body was thrown into a gutter.

According to a source close to the police, an investigation has been opened.

Residents are demanding that the police strengthen security.

The administrator of Mugina confirms the incident and urges the population to lend a hand to the police in strengthening security.
