Rumonge : two people sentenced to 15 years in prison for forgery and use of forged documents

Florian Ndayipfukamiye and Patrick Niyukuri were sentenced to a main penal servitude sentence of 15 years and a fine of one million each to be paid to the public treasury. The verdict was made public last Friday evening after the flagrant judgment of the Rumonge First Instance Court (southwest of the country) held the same Friday.

According to the public prosecutor’s indictment, they are prosecuted for manufacturing counterfeit dollar bills and fraud.

The police seized at Ndayipfukamiye’s home a sum of 2,700 counterfeit US dollars and a national identity card of Patrick Niyukuri which contained 6 counterfeit dollar bills.

The ministry requested a sentence of 20 years and a fine of one million francs each against the two men.

The defense denied all these accusations.

After deliberation, the two alleged forgers were sentenced to 15 years in jail and each to pay a million francs fine.
