Gitega: the FRODEBU party denounces the untenable cost of living for the population
As Burundi prepares for the 2025 elections, the Sahwanya FRODEBU party denounces the high cost of living across the country. It was declared on Saturday August 17 in Gitega, the political capital, by the president of the party leader. He also said he doubted the credibility of the next elections given his party was not involved in the establishment of electoral commissions from the top to the base. INFO SOS Médias Burundi
Patrick Nkurunziza regretted the confusion and economic slump plaguing Burundi.
“We deplore the rise in prices of basic foodstuffs. Added to this is the lack of all strategic products including fuel which causes hassle for the movement of populations and products, without forgetting the high rate of unemployment among young people,” he said.
According to the FRODEBU political party president the only way out of this impasse remains a free and transparent election. He called on the activists of Melchior Ndadaye*’s party to prepare “for the meetings of 2025 and 2027” for the legislative and presidential elections respectively.
However, Patrick Nkurunziza deplores that his party was not involved in the establishment of the provincial and municipal electoral commissions.
