INFO SOS Médias Burundi

The situation concerns 41 families in the locality of Rutumo. Their homes were destroyed in the afternoon of November 1, according to local sources. Since then, several residents have been left homeless.

Local elected officials who spoke to SOS Médias Burundi count 230 people affected.

“[…] Some families have agreed to accommodate the most vulnerable, mainly children and women. The men, on the other hand, sleep under the stars. It is a very difficult situation,” they say, while specifying that they have informed the hierarchy in the district and in the province.

Those concerned say they are deprived of everything.
