Karusi: a man admitted after being stabbed by an Imbonerakure
Prosper Bitangayezu was seriously injured in the abdomen stermming from a stabbing by an Imbonerakure (member of the CNDD-FDD youth league, the presidential party). The incident was triggered by Prosper Bitangayezu who asked his due which amounts to two thousand Burundian francs. He had unloaded goods from a vehicle belonging to an Imbonerakure named Ernest Hakizimana.
Three stab wounds were inflicted on the victim who demanded his money.
The information is confirmed by Pie Rurimwishiga, hill chief of Gatabo. He said that Mr. Bitangayezu was immediately rushed to a health center in Nyabibuye to receive first aid. He was transferred to the Cinquantenaire hospital in the capital of Karusi province where he is currently hospitalized.
Residents of the Gatabo hill denounce the impunity which is increasingly taking on a worrying pace. They demand that Ernest Hakizimana be arrested and then brought to justice.
The suspect is not worried. He is also known in several other cases of human rights violations in Shombo commune, according to local sources.
The administrator of the commune of Shombo reports that after his crime, Hakizimana took off and lives in hiding. He is wanted by the police, indicates the communal administrator.
