It is the police that intervened to arrest the three persons, according to witnesses.
“Young pregnant girls were found at the basic school of Kigongo in the district directorate of Kibago. After a visit by the district education authority to this school on Tuesday, some pregnant girls admitted to have had sex with Pascal Nitunga, their director. The latter was arrested on Wednesday”, say our sources who specify that the man is held in the cell of the police station in Kibago.
At this school, three young girls from the 5th and 6th grade classes are pregnant.
The director denies the charges against him, but the police arrested him as part of an investigation, say sources familiar with the case.
The second detainee is a man from the Gatabo zone in Kayogoro district. He was caught having sex with a 15-year-old girl in a vehicle. It was during the night of January 20 around 10 p.m. He has been detained in the provincial police station cell since the following day.
In Kibago, another suspect is detained by the police in the same case as the director of the basic school of Kigongo.
The provincial director of education in Makamba Sem Nimpaye recently deplored several cases of unwanted pregnancies in schools.
Mr. Nimpaye pleads for very severe sanctions in this area.
