New cases are confirmed by health officials and the administration in the Ntahangwa commune.
“As soon as detected, the patients were quickly evacuated to the Prince Régent Charles hospital in a specialized center for the epidemic,” they told SOS Médias Burundi.
Residents of Ntahangwa speak of a problem of lack of water causing illnesses due to lack of hygiene.
“We lack clean water because there are repetitive cuts by Regideso (State company in charge of water and electricity distribution). Our zone is overcrowded and we use latrines that do not fill standards for the most part as cholera spreads quickly, we fear the worst,” they are indignant.
With the new cases, this makes eight patients detected in this district in one week.
