INFO SOS Médias Burundi
The body of Ferdinand Hatungimana was discovered not far from his home in the Buhoro zone, according to witnesses.
They indicate that people in military uniform took the remains to this location during Saturday night. Witnesses told SOS Médias Burundi “that they recognized Imbonerakure in this group”. The circumstances of the death of this member of the ruling party’s youth league remain unclear. Mr. Hatungimana campaigned for the CNL before joining the CNDD-FDD in 2022. Local sources say that this father of 6 children has always been suspected of being “a spy”.
In the process, seven opponents, all activists for the main opposition party CNL, were arrested.
The district administrator confirms the incident. Jeanne Izomporera says that the police are working to “discover the motives and perpetrators of the death of Ferdinand Hatungimana”.
