The woman’s body had wounds on the head and lot of blood in the mouth.

“She was dressed in a loincloth and blouse with a 2000 Burundian franc note in her hand and a pan filled with well-cooked rice and beans. We believe that she would have been killed – stabbed elsewhere then her body thrown there “, say residents of Nyabututsi who first saw the body.

This information is confirmed by Gérard Ndayishimiye, deputy head of the Nyabututsi district.

“The identity of the woman is not yet known but the police have raided the scene to investigate. The body was then taken to the morgue of the regional hospital of Gitega”, said the administrator.

The second body, of Désiré Nsabimana, 38, was found on the morning of this Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the place known as Vétérinaire, near a local slaughterhouse. It is in the district of Shatanya 3 (same town of Gitega).

According to Eugène Manirakiza, head of the Shatanya neighborhood, the deceased would have succumbed to epilepsy mixed with excessive alcohol.

However, Mr Manirakiza has concerns

“There was a big baton next to the body.”

The Shatanya administrator said that this man was from the hill of Mugende Gitaramuka commune, in the province of Karusi (central-eastern Burundi).

Police say they have opened an investigation. The body was taken to the morgue of the regional hospital of Gitega by the civil protection police.
