Cibitoke: a corpse discovered

At the end of the afternoon of this Sunday, shepherds found a corpse in Karurama village, in the Cibitoke section of Rugombo district. It is in the province of Cibitoke (Northwest Burundi). Residents demand an independent investigation. The district administrator confirms this information and talks about launching an investigation. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

Witnesses on the spot indicate that it is goat herders who discovered this corpse of a man. The incident took place on the 7th avenue of the Karurama sub-village. They quickly alerted local soldiers.

A military source specifies that “the man has not been identified. He did not even have clothes on him”.

The same military source believes that “the victim was killed elsewhere and his body thrown there to erase the traces”.

The place where this body was found is almost 400 meters from the river Rusizi (separating Burundi and the DRC).

“We had the authorization of the administration to bury this corpse”, testifies an Imbonerakure (member of the youth league of the CNDD-FDD party).

Residents of this locality are indignant : corpses are often found in the area and are buried without any investigations.

The administrator of Rugombo district confirms this information. Gilbert Manirakiza also states that the identity of the victim has not been established.

“The police have launched an investigation”, he said, without giving further details.
