Rutovu: an Imbonerakure injured with a machete by his colleague
Ernest Kwizera, an Imbonerakure (member of the CNDD-FDD youth league) was injured on Thursday by Innocent Ndayisenga, also a member of the same league. The incident took place in the village and zone of Kajondi in the district of Rutovu (province of Bururi, southern Burundi). The perpetrator of the attack has been arrested. INFO SOS Médias Burundi
A land dispute is said to be at the origin of the incident, according to local sources.
“Ernest Kwizera tried to prevent Ndayisenga from destroying a potato field belonging to his brother. But he was attacked and injured with a machete in the head and face”, say witnesses.
The injured person was evacuated to a nearby medical facility.
The assailant was arrested by the police. He is held at the district police station in Rutovu.
The potato field is said to be on a conflicting ground.
