He had been arrested by agents of the SNR (national intelligence service) on board a private vehicle at the chief town of the commune of Kayokwe in the province of Mwaro.
The retiree was suspected of communicating with Burundian media in exile, which he has always denied.
He finally regained his freedom after two weeks of detention. His family confirmed his release to SOS Médias Burundi.
