Lubero : a new deadly attack by the alleged ADF leaves ten dead
A group of men armed with machetes and rifles raided around midnight on the night of Saturday to Sunday in the village of Nguli, west of Muramba in the Bukenye groupment, Baswagha chiefdom, in Lubero territory, nearly 5 kilometers from the village of Kasimbi in the province of North Kivu in the east of the DRC. The provisional toll given by local sources shows ten people killed by bladed weapons and several others missing. The property of the population was also looted by attackers. INFO SOS Médias Burundi
Our sources specify that the attackers came from the village of Mulimande. They passed through the villages of Museya and Kyavinyonge around 5 p.m. local time.
Residents have however alerted to the presence of unknown armed men since Saturday morning.
Perpetrators of the massacre were guided by a man native of this village taken hostage by the assailants, our sources indicate.
“After this crime, the perpetrators returned by the same route without being worried”, said indignantly a survivor.
The civil society in the region says it is shocked because the population had already alerted the authorities to a suspicious movement in the region of unknown men after the massacre of a dozen people in the Bashu chiefdom.
“Unfortunately our alerts have not been taken into account by the local authorities”, said an angry human rights activist, on condition of anonymity.
In less than two weeks, more than 100 people have been killed by the Ugandan armed group, the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), in the territories of Beni and Lubero in the east of the vast central African country, according to the administration and the local civil society.
