Serge Tshibangu made it clear that any rebel movement which does not participate in the talks or will not lay down their arms after the Nairobi negotiations expose themselves to the wrath of the regional force. He asks them to take his threats seriously.

“[…] armed groups and those who have coalitions with other armed groups who are not here, pass on the message: while there is still time, that there is still the outstretched hand of the Head of State, of the East African community, and by extension the outstretched hand of an entire continent watching us, I believe it is high time that they join the process. We do not want to see in the end that our own brothers and sisters who took up arms for whatever reason are unfortunately neutralized by the regional force just because they did not in time seize the hand given to them,” he said.

According to Mr. Tshibangu, the non-participation of the M23 in the Nairobi talks is not an obstacle to resolving the crisis in eastern Congo.

“I would like to reassure you of one thing, and that is, the situation we face today with the M23 will not stop the Nairobi process. The Nairobi process was not created on the size of the M23 “, explained the special envoy of Kinshasa.

The facilitator in the Congolese crisis believes that it is high time that the wealth of the DRC benefit the Congolese themselves. Uhuru Kenyata who reminds the Congolese that it is they themselves who must find the solution to their problems, deplored an interminable crisis which plunged the country into misery.

“We know that our Congolese brothers have been plunged into an endless crisis for more than twenty years. There are children who have never seen the door of school because of the war, there are men who have never had the opportunity to cultivate their land and have food to finally free themselves from poverty because of war, there are riches with which God has blessed you in your basement but which are exploited by foreigners because of the war. They are the ones who benefit from these riches at a time when your children cannot even see the door of the school, the women cannot have hospitals or decent places to give birth. And the people live like refugees in their own country,” he said.

As Congolese authorities continue to accuse Rwanda of backing M23, Kenya’s former president has advised the two nations in Africa’s Great Lakes region to always remember that neighbors are doomed to live together .

“We can choose our friends but God did not give us this freedom to choose our neighbor”, he hammered.

This Wednesday, President Paul Kagame largely commented the bad relations between his country and the vast country of Central Africa.

“[…], whoever thinks they can keep cutting our banana leaves because we’re little stem boy you don’t know how you deceive yourself,” he said in speaking Swahili and English in a very stern tone. It was on the sidelines of a sworn-in ceremony of the new minister in charge of health.

And he insisted under the applause of the members of parliament “these people think that we are small rods my friends! They will know that they are wrong. In our small size, we do not have the means but we have the ways”.
