The body was seen in a bush a few hundred meters from national road number eleven, RN11 Kayogoro-Gatereni. The victim’s body was hanging from a small tree branch using a rope, according to witnesses.
“When we saw the body hanging on a tree, we alerted the police and the administration. They arrived on the scene to witness the facts,” say residents.
The deceased has been identified as Éric Nduwimana (24 years ), a native of Kabizi hill in the commune of Kayogoro in the neighboring province of Makamba (south).
“We found on him a national identity card, a voter card and a sum of 27 thousand Burundian francs,” specifies a police source.
Doubtful circumstances
Our sources suspect that Nduwimana was killed.
“First, the body had injuries at the head and neck. This make us believe that something happened, either an argument or an attack before his death. Then, there was no blood at the place where he was hanged, although he had wounds. This proves that the body was taken here from elsewhere”, analyze administrative and police sources who affirm that suspects were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.
