Gitega : Burundi has never been so blessed (President Ndayishimiye)

Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye said on Saturday that his country is experiencing overproduction in all areas. According to him, the small East African nation has never been as blessed as it is today. Évariste Ndayishimiye believes that Burundians can achieve financial independence. The Burundian president is convinced : Burundi has never been as happy as it is under his regime. He thanked “God” for answering his prayers. He says he has toured his country in recent days and ealized that all provinces are experiencing agricultural overproduction in all areas.

“This is the very first time in my life that I have seen such production in the country. […] There is an overproduction of corn to the point of wondering if only Burundians will be able to consume this production. Besides that, there is a very large production of beans. Farmers can no longer even harvest everything, the harvest is so large that we can no longer pull them all. The fields are full of beans. To this are added corn yields. In all marshes, rice production is more than abundant.

In Kirundo, Ngozi, Karusi, Cankuzo, Ruyigi, …The only question I asked people is the following : will the residents eat all this production? Everywhere, I noticed that we have a glut in production. Added to this are coffee yields and in the days to come, wheat production will be more than satisfactory in Mugamba, without forgetting potatoes,” he declared in front of an audience of Burundian officials, asking them to acclaim “God”, for “this blessing which He has given us”.

Rabbit breeding

The leader of the world’s poorest country believes that rabbit farming can develop his country. For the ceremony called “Patriotism Day”, he called on a foreign rabbit expert.

“He (the rabbit expert) visited only four places and according to his forecasts, in just 42 days, we could have a profit of more than two hundred million two hundred and twenty-one thousand Burundi francs. Imagine what Burundi will look like when will we start collecting all this money? This is just one small example among many others,” he tried to convince his audience.

Poor-minded country

Évariste Ndayishimiye who runs the country where it is almost impossible today to move even in the commercial city Bujumbura where the central administration is concentrated, is very disgusted to hear that Burundi is the poorest country in the world.

“I don’t like it at all when people say that Burundi is the poorest country in the world. Even if they were to inject that into my veins, I would never be able to be convinced that Burundi is the poorest country in the world. But we are poor in mind,” he lamented.

Diaspora

For President Neva, “Burundians in the diaspora make fun of us by saying that we are poor as if they were not Burundian nationals.”

Authorities interested in elections only

The Burundian president acknowledges that most Burundian officials and authorities are now only interested in elections instead of thinking about working to develop the country.

“When we approach the elections, it’s as if Satan takes hold of us. Some say : my term is ending, others wonder : will I be on the list of elected officials? Everyone only thinks about elections only”, recognized Mr. Ndayishimiye who believes that “the record of a leader remains his only legacy”.

According to the Burundian president, Burundians can achieve financial independence like citizens of developed countries if civil servants compete particularly in practicing agriculture and livestock, a way, according to him, of not being dependent in the event of loss of job or retirement.

In his speech where he less mentioned the name of his predecessor Pierre Nkurunziza whom he nevertheless describes as “Sogo or grandfather”, when he asks for clemency from CNDD-FDD activists, Évariste Ndayishimiye recognized once again that his co-leaders indulge in corruption and have no planning for the future, two major challenges to overcome “to make Burundi an emerging country in 2040 and a developed country in 2060”.

“It is possible to achieve this if we behave as true servants of the people and not as mercenaries,” expressed his disappointment the Burundian head of state.
