The patients have rashes throughout the body, coughing and a high fever.

“The disease is contagious and fatal. The Matana health district has already recorded a case of death of a child aged about 10 years,” said medical sources.

The victim died in one of the clinics in the district of Mugamba in the first week of July 2024. Local medical sources confirm that two other children are bedridden. They have the same symptoms.

The population fears that the disease would still make other victims.

The disease has not yet been identified.

“Medical tests are being carried out to determine the type of disease in question. For the moment, patients are treated by trial and error,” say medial sources.

Health officials confirmed the situation without revealing measures undertaken to bring it under control.
