The body of Bahati was found by farmers who were going to the fields very early in the morning of November 27. Witnesses to the macabre discovery indicate that he was lying next to the Buhinda River.

“The body had no injuries,” they say. The victim was apparently strangled, according to our sources.

The circumstances of the death of this septuagenarian remain unknown. But local residents suspect that he was murdered by colleagues.

“The watchmen often receive palm oil bunches from the owners of the fields. Sentries bicker and end up killing each other over the sharing of these bunches,” say residents who have experienced other similar cases in the area. They are asking the courts to take up the case.

The local administration confirms the information. The local police say they have opened an investigation.
