Rugombo : a man found dead

A body of a man in his thirties was discovered in the village of Rusiga in the district of Rugombo in the province of Cibitoke (northwest Burundi) on Sunday, February 23, 2025. The body has not been identified.

According to residents who saw it first, the body had injuries on the head.

“He was killed and then thrown into the Nyamagana River. He had several head injuries,” reports a resident of the village of Rusiga.

Gilbert Manirakiza, the district administrator of Rugombo, confirmed that the body of the man, whose identity remains unknown for the moment, was transported to the morgue of the Cibitoke hospital.

He urged the population to collaborate with the authorities, particularly the police, in order to maintain order and security in the region.

This administration authority also specified that investigations are underway to elucidate circumstances of this murder.

The inhabitants of this locality, for their part, demand that the police and judicial authorities conduct rapid and thorough investigations.
