Local sources say they discovered the lifeless body as they were looking for firewood on Yanza Hill.
“Residents who were looking for firewood came across a corpse. It was only covered with an undergarment […]”, say witnesses.
The administration and the local police were alerted. The body was taken to the morgue.
Locals suspect the man was killed elsewhere before his body was taken there.
This is not the first time that corpses have been discovered in Murehe. Residents have often reported hearing cries of distress in the locality at night as corpses are seen the next day.
Other residents claim to have often seen vehicles from the provincial intelligence representative in Kirundo, the CNDD-FDD provincial secretary or the provincial representative of the Imbonerakure (members of the CNDD-FDD youth league) coming there during the nights that preceded by macabre discoveries.
“[…], it’s really terrifying, we think that the administrative and security officials know what’s going on here. It’s certainly murdered people…”, say residents.
The body discovered on Friday has not yet been buried. He is at the health center of Vyanzo, in the commune of Busoni. The administrative authorities and the police did not want to comment on the case.
