Kayanza : a man attacks and injures his parents with a machete
A 32-year-old man brutally attacked his parents. He wounded his father and mother with a machete. The incident took place on the night of March 5 to 6 in the village of Sakinyinya in the district of Muhanga in the province of Kayanza (northern Burundi). According to our sources, it was around 10 p.m. when Melchior Kamwenubusa, 70 years old, and his wife Sabine Bukuru, 66 years old, were seriously injured by their son Claude Nshimirimana, 32 years old, with a machete.
The suspect’s accomplice, Norbert Ntunzwenimana, was arrested in Gitwenzi village, in the Mivo zone of Ngozi district (north). He is kept in the cell of the district of Muhanga.
The main suspect remains untraceable so far. The police, in collaboration with the administration, are looking for him.
The suspect’s wife, Joselyne Kwizerimana, and her sister confirmed this information. They claimed to have witnessed the facts because they were on the spot at the time of the incident.
The victims were admitted to Gahombo hospital in the same province.
Residents of Sakinyinya village demand that justice be done to punish perpetrators of the crime in accordance with the law.
The motive for this act is said to be linked to family conflicts.
