Ngozi : a body of a killed man found in a provincial hospital morgue

The deceased left his home last Thursday and went to the Ngozi market (northern Burundi) where he was often employed as a day laborer, his relatives say. According to medical sources, the man who is a member of the Batwa minority group was killed with sticks.

According to their testimonies, the victim screamed for help, to no avail.

“After noticing that he was dead, the main suspect called his neighbors who helped him transport the corpse to Ngozi hospital. After dropping it off at the morgue, he ran away”, say witnesses.

The office of the district administrator under siege

This Saturday, the victim’s relatives and neighbors besieged the office of the district administrator in Ngozi to demand justice.

“The administrator seemed to ignore their grievances”, regrets a civil servant in Ngozi. Local authorities were not available to respond to the allegations.
