DRC : people suspected of collaborating with the M23 apprehended

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) showed to the press five men suspected of collaborating with the M23 rebels. It was Friday, March 8, in Kinshasa, the Congolese capital. According to General Sylvain Ekenge, spokesperson for the FARDC, these people played a crucial role in supplying the M23 rebels with men and providing them with information. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

They were presented as a network composed of political actors and members of the civil society, closely linked to the activities of the rebels.

Among those presented was Honorary Member of Parliament Hope Sabini. He is considered to have recruited several individuals, including his cousin Cyril Muhongya, an expert in tourism and environment in the provincial government of North Kivu.

Authorities are calling on the population to remain vigilant and cooperate in investigations to strengthen national security.

The army announced that those arrested will soon be brought before the courts which will rule on their fate, in accordance with the law.
