Bweru: a seriously injured woman

Espérance Sibomana, in her forties, is bedridden at the Karusi 50th anniversary hospital (central-eastern Burundi). She was evacuated there after sustaining serious injuries by her husband. The incident took place on the hill and commune of Bweru in the province of Ruyigi (east). The perpetrator fled according to the local administration but the police are looking for him. Local sources say the incident took place this Tuesday around 2 a.m. at the couple’s home.

“Jean Nyandwi injured his wife in the head. The woman’s head was shattered and even her brain was affected,” say residents.

The victim was evacuated to Ruyigi hospital before being transferred to Karusi 50th anniversary hospital.

Bweru hill chief says Nyandwi fled after the wrong. He adds the woman was attacked for revealing a murder committed by her husband recently.

“Nyandwi is still in the hide but the police are chasing him,” the official concluded.
