Kirundo : rivalries within the CNDD-FDD cause the paralysis of activities in the health district of Vumbi

Two months have passed without there being a chief doctor in the Vumbi health district in Kirundo province (north of the country). Speculation between two sides within the CNDD-FDD is the cause of this paralysis. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

The former chief medical officer was appointed director of the health province of Kirundo by decree.

“We have just spent almost two months without receiving our salaries”, laments the staff of the Vumbi health district.

Our sources within the management team of the said district specify that activities have been paralyzed since the district chief physician, Dr. Samuel Kwizera, was appointed director of the health province of Kirundo more than a month ago, replacing Doctor Louis Nzitunga who had just spent exactly eight years at the top of this department.

Alongside contract workers who are almost neglected, bills for medicines and other investments, without mentioning those of mechanics, are not paid due to the lack of stamp and signature of the district chief doctor.

Concordant sources specify that this delay is due to speculation and misunderstandings between two sides within the CNDD-FDD party.

“They want to impose on us a doctor from the side of Colonel Anastase Manirambona or Intarambirwa but those who are lined up behind Jean Baptiste Nzigamasabo nicknamed Gihahe oppose it, especially since the provincial secretary of the party as well as the provincial doctor are all pro-Gihahe”, confided Bagumyabanga (members of the ruling party) close to the executive office.

Intellectuals from the province of Kirundo report that “this entity is badly governed from the top to the bottom following the influence of these two politicians who behave “like little gods. No one can occupy a position if both sides do not endorse the name”.

Since Révérien Ndikuriyo’s arrival at the management of the CNDD-FDD in January 2021, Imbonerakure who support the two men have clashed on several occasions. Former Colonel Anastase Manirambona considered less persecuting of opponents and non-zealous members of the ruling party that was very popular between 2015 and 2020 in Kirundo is losing more and more ground against the very sulphurous Jean-Baptiste Nzigamasabo, friend of Révérien Ndikuriyo and with whom he shares the vision of things, according to sources close to the two former Hutu rebels.
